Hi Everyone, On Tuesday Nov. 24th, 2009 we held our first Annual General Meeting as the Willowdale N. E. Neighbourhood Association, and it was a success.
THANK YOU to all those who attended. We had a very nice turnout, and we had two special Guest Speakers, Kelly Downie of 33 Division who gave a very informative talk about crime prevention. Our other guest speaker who showed up for the last 30 min. was our Councillor David Shiner. Councillor Shiner talked about the Shoppes on Steeles, Don Mills LRT, and other municipal concerns like the upcoming election next year. We also had one of our members Karl Haab, give us a very up close and personal perspective of the St. Clair LRT and the problems there.He also talked about the Sheppard LRT line, and how a subway was the better way.
Councillor Shiner echoed those statements later in his speech. On behalf of all of us who attended, we thank these three speakers, they made our meeting most interesting, and the feedback has been very positive. We also talked about our plans for the Association for the coming year, we are going to continue to keep a close eye on the Shoppes on Steeles developments; Don Mills LRT plans, and we also will keep the community informed about the upcoming HST tax and the municipal election, we have set up committees also.
